Sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar is a singular figure in the Indian classical and progressive world music scenes. Her dynamic and spiritual musicality has garnered several prestigious accolades including six Grammy® Award nominations. A range of recordings from Indian classical ragas to her more creatively experimental work has already produced 10 highly-acclaimed albums and a DVD film-score to the Indian silent movie epic, Shiraz (1928). Anoushka Shankar reflects on her journey, drawing on classical ragas, referencing some of the experiences she’s built along the way and experimenting with new ideas in a cross-cultural dialogue that showcases the versatility of the sitar across musical genres.
