Due to the excitement surrounding the Superbowl on Sunday, February 3rd pairing two Northeast teams, the Patriots and Giants, Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids has postponed JOHNNY AND THE SPRITES LIVE until the holidays 2008.  They apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

LINARES/POVEDA 
Description: Two of flamenco's leading singers, Carmen Linares and Miguel Poveda, share the stage in a virtuosic vocal display ranging from the Gypsy roots of flamenco to contemporary innovations. Linares, one of the great names in flamenco, has been celebrated worldwide for over 30 years for her exquisite style; Latin Grammy nominee Miguel Poveda has become an important figure in the new generation of flamenco vocalists. In their new show, Cuatro Esquinas, they will joined by the remarkable guitarist Juan Carlos Romero and Pastora Galván, a commanding young dancer in her NY debut.

TOMATITO
Description:

The dazzling Gypsy guitarist Tomatito is noted for his mastery of the compás and his elegant style. In his teens, he began a long partnership with singer Camarón de la Isla, which lasted until Camarón's death in 1992. Since then he has become one of flamenco’s most highly regarded solo guitarists and received several Latin Grammy Awards. In this performance, he will be joined by his ensemble and the dynamic Gypsy dancer Jose Maya, a rising star in flamenco.

PEN AMERICAN CENTER PRESENTS A TRIBUTE TO CHINUA ACHEBE ON THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS NOVEL THINGS FALL APART

Description:

Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe is joined by Toni Morrison, Chris Abani, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Edwidge Danticat, Suheir Hammad, Ha Jin, and Colum McCann for this exciting anniversary tribute to Things Fall Apart (1958) -- one of the first African novels written in English to receive global critical acclaim. The evening features a special performance by the Francesca Harper Dance Project with dancers from the Alvin Ailey School.  Presented in collaboration with Vintage Books.
