Children who attend Black History Month performances also participate in a essay/poster contest. Winners receive a cash prize. Winning entries are displayed at the Hall and on The Town Hall website. The contest encourages children to think critically about the performance as well as express themselves creatively.

For all performances detailed study guides are provided for teachers in advance of the show to help integrate the experience into the student's regular classroom activities. The study guides include information about the show as well as the themes that the show deals with, guidelines on how to prepare student on their visit to Town Hall, pre and post performance activities for students, and a resource guide for more information.
